HAMAM...

Since there was no post on last Sunday, here is the double damaka post...

Advt for the subject product starts like this... A boy was asking his mother who is oldest in their home. She points out at the big neem tree standing in their home and explains the protection that it offers. Similar protection is offered to your skin by using Hamam (with neem), see says. Which means, you destroy a natural protector (i.e. neem tree) to manufacture a soap, which is proclaimed to give similar protection. This is a means to promote tree felling.

The health benefits of having neem tree around has been long forgotten by our community and we are in search of neem ladden soap, paste, face wash etc. to keep us glowing, while these were naturally available for our previous generation.

SANKAR CEMENTS - THE STRENGTH OF PAMBAN BRIDGE

Today's criticism is on the way the add for Sankar Cements was made. The add starts like this...

A person was asked by his wife to just close the door of their home before starting their journey in car. The person was so concerned about switching off the lights, fans, stove etc. in the home, which he asks his wife for confirmation. She says irritatingly that everything was done. Even her driving the vehicle was doubtedly asked by her husband thus depicting how doubtful the husband is. But, upon reaching Pamban Bridge, when his wife asked him, whether he doubts Pamban Bridge, he says that he has no doubt, since it was built with Sankar Cement. In addition, when asked about their home's construction by his son, he still continues saying his faith in Sankar Cement.

It's clear that a person, who has no faith in his family has faith in a cement. Persons' faiths may differ. But, the primary faith a person should have is with his family and friends. If that is not there, any other faiths that he excersises has no meaning.

GRB UDHAYAM GHEE - LIKE MOTHER'S LOVE

Today's criticism on GRB Udhayam Ghee's advt.

Ammaavin Anbaippola (Like Mother's Love) is the advertisement for GRB. I need not explain what Mother's Love is to you. But when someone quotes that as a caption for selling the product, there must be reality. When a simple attribute of Mother's Love (i.e. taking care of her child during his / her fever filled days) cannot be matched by the product (you cannot take Ghee when you are feverish), what for the advertisement is made and broadcasted???

TSN - no... never...

TSN - Tele Shopping Network... My personal experience.

It was in 2011, when I was longing for weight reduction. All the TSN products for weight loss had not fulfilled my expectations, except the burning of 820 calories in one hour by Orbitrek Elite. The deal seemed to be agreeable to my expectations, hence I ordered the product. I got the product delivered in a month's time. The product was accompanied by a menu card, a diet plan. It states that to achieve the expected result, the diet plan should be followed. The menu card shows some dishes in Australia or America, which can seldom be found in India.

Nevertheless, I tried to burn the calories using the product. In the least friction load, riding for 1 hour had resulted in a mere 400 calories burning as per the indicator affixed to the product. As the friction load increases, riding gets tougher and so the calories burnt became lesser.

Later on, the advertisement was modified and it displayed that if you ride it for 20 minutes daily, you will get noteworthy results. I did that too. But, I felt, burning 120 - 150 calories in 20 minutes can be done by other cheaper means.

Exactly four years since I bought the product, the LEG-REST GOT SHEARED OFF WHILE RIDING IT. I got escaped narrowly with minimum injuries to my left leg. I got shocked. If this is the quality of the product, then how can we reliably do work out??? I called the customer care and complained about this. Customer care is very smart. They said, the warranty for the product is for one year and hence, they can repair the product for charges applicable. My question to them was simple. I'm not bothered about repairing the product. If the reliability of using the product is gone, then what is the fun in repairing it??? What does TSN guarantee for non occurrence of similar incident. The question is still unanswered.

Hope this blog will make you think before going for a TSN product.

BEWARE OF ADVERTISEMENTS... ADVERTISERS, BEWARE...

Hi there,

I'm not a regular blogger... In fact, I'm not a blogger at all... But I have quests of becoming a better blogger. This is one such attempt.

I've been watching TV for quiet a long time, like many of you. Whenever an advertisement is played for a product, I used to switch to other channels and watch programs than advertisements. Basically, I hate advertisements, because, the amount spent for advertising a product is being recovered from the purchaser, thereby increasing the commodity's price. But, recently, I've been forced to watch advertisements, not because that my conception about advertisements was wrong, but the way advertisements are promoting selling of products.

In the film "Thani Oruvan" (Thamizh), how Jayam Ravi (Hero) was describing about the links that he could sense while reading newspapers, a sense of excessive lying in advertisements prickles my mind quite often. Some of them would have clicked in some of your minds also, but there should be a campaign about the wrongly advertised product / service.

This blog will tear apart those underlying LIES in the advertisements that I come across. This may be a risky deal, but, I feel like vomiting when the lies become excess, which makes watching TV a nonsense. To make the blogs interesting, there will be added flavours which will make reading the blog enjoyable along with understanding the underlying fact behind each advertisement shot...

This blog is intended to attack the misleading advertisements only and not the product itself. The product manufacturers / sellers shall ensure proper advertising of their product to avoid coming under my scanner!!!

Happy advertising...

Regards,
ANAND R.
